3 tips for quick and easy gel manicure for removal!

If you’re like the rest of us, over the past year you’ve discovered the ease and convenience of doing your own manicures and pedicures at home. And if you have a fabulous gel nail look that you love, sooner or later, you’re going to have to take it off!
There are many different types of gel polish removers you can try, but if you’re new to the DIY gel removal process, Maryton Supply will tell you 3 tips and tricks for the easiest and most convenient removal! Give yourself about 20-25 minutes total to get it right, especially the first time. Practice makes perfect!
Tip 1: File the surface of your gel manicure really well

The first step in preparing your nails for gel polish removal is to file down your old manicure. Gel is meant to stay on your nails without chipping – that’s one of the things we love! But the gel that’s supposed to stick to your nails also means it’s not THAT easy to remove. So the first step is to roughly file down the surface of your manicure because there’s a Gel Topcoat and you need to break that layer down .
This will allow the acetone to easily penetrate the rest of the polish layers when you wrap your nails later. Also, when filing down your manicure, make sure to cover the entire surface so that all parts of the polish have been filed down. One more thing, it is highly recommended that you use an electric nail file as it can get the job done quickly.
Tip 2: Wrap your nails sealed!
Once you have filed your nails, the next step is to wrap them with acetone soaked gel polish remover wraps. This is called a “soak-off” gel polish removal. All you have to do is tear it open and place your finger inside with your nail touching the cotton pad. Next, you can peel off the small sticker and wrap the left, right, and top sides down and squeeze it tightly. You want to make it as tight as possible around your finger! This is so the acetone is touching the polish the entire time (about 15 minutes).
Tip 3: Use a gel removal tool to easily lift up the remaining polish
After about 15 minutes, you can gently peel off one of the wraps and check to see if the gel has peeled off the nail.
You want to go for a “shattered” polish effect. The acetone should break up the polish so that it’s easy to scrape off any remaining pieces. If the polish doesn’t seem broken yet, you can leave the remover on for another 3-5 minutes. Once ready, use a removal tool to scrape off any remaining polish on the nail.
